The following topics are covered in this Do
module on Introductory Site Development. At the end of the module,
the student should have a firm grasp of each of these topics.
* Develop a SOW for ACME Books
* Develop a Set of Tasks and a Baseline
Schedule
* Allocate Resources and Create Timelines
with TeamManager and Project

- Develop a SOW for
ACME Books
- Utilizing the business methodologies and technological paradigms shown
in the Discuss section of Module 0, students should create their own SOW for
ACME Books. The sample SOW in the demonstrate section may be used as
a rough draft to be expanded upon, or it a new one may be created.
This SOW should be created and presented in the form of a bid proposal to
ACME Books. It should include a purpose, schedule of completion
dates, and a set of deliverables.
- Develop a Set of
Tasks and a Baseline
Schedule
- Now that you have a SOW, the team needs to fully expand the baseline set
of tasks and schedule in more detail. A series of core tasks should be
identified. Each of these tasks will be a separate project with an
associated timeline.
This information should be tracked through TeamManager and Project.
- Allocate Resources and
Create Timelines
Using TeamManager
and Project
- Once you have identified the core tasks as mentioned above, enter them
into TeamManager and allocate the appropriate resources. For any core tasks
which need to begin immediate development, create a project in Microsoft
Project and begin to organize the lower level tasks involved in completing
each core task. Make sure to create a timeline you can live with and pay
special attention to how your resources are being allotted.
